Playstation Premiere For Prodigy

August 04, 2009

By By Richard Smirke, London

U.K. dance act the Prodigy's latest video premieres this afternoon on the Playstation 3 VidZone platform.

"Take me to the Hospital," the third single to be lifted from the Prodigy's European No. 1 album "Invaders Must Die" -- on its own Take Me To the Hospital label -- makes its debut via VidZone today (Aug.4) 18.00 BST/19.00 CET.

VidZone launched in June this year and is a free service, exclusive to Sony Playstation 3 owners, that allows its owners to stream music videos directly to their TV screens via the PS3 console.

The digital music service platform has over 12,000 videos available to access and claims to have streamed over one million music video downloads since launch.

"Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eyed Peas is the digital platform's most viewed video to date. Second is Michael Jackson's "Thriller" -- one of six entries by Jackson in the VidZone top 10. Lady Gaga takes third place with "Poker Face."

"Take Me To The Hospital" is released in the United Kingdom Aug. 31. The video, which features all three band members, Liam Howlett, Keith Flint and Maxim, was directed by Paul Dugdale and filmed Pinewood Studios in London.

Currently in the midst of a world tour, the Prodigy play European festival dates throughout the summer, followed by European theater shows.
