UPDATE: Lesley Bleakley Resigns As Beggars CEO, Matt Harmon Named President
June 15, 2010 - Indies

By Cortney Harding

Lesley Bleakley has resigned as Beggars group U.S. CEO. She confirmed the move on Twitter.

Bleakley had worked for the London-based Beggars Group since 1987; in 1995, she moved to New York to start the label's North American office.

As CEO, she oversaw North American operations of the Beggars Group, which represents 4AD, XL, Beggars Banquet, Matador, and Too Pure. She was also actively involved in establishing the trade association A2IM.

Bleakley has recently been living in Vietnam and is writing a blog about her experiences in the country.

UPDATE:
Matt Harmon becomes president of Beggars Group following the departure of former CEO of North America Lesley Bleakley. Bleakley’s decision to step down follows her intended one year sabbatical in Vietnam. She has now decided to stay in that country for family reasons, according to a press release from the company.

Harmon started with the Beggars Group in 1998 as head of sales and since 2007 he has been GM of the company.

Bleakley will continue to work for the company in a number of roles, initially remote working in Vietnam and then locally when she returns.

The Beggars Group also promoted Adam Farrell to VP of marketing and Adam Carroll to VP of finance.
