Guns N' Roses Add London Date

August 25, 2010

By By Richard Smirke, London

Guns N' Roses has added an extra date at London's O2 Arena to its U.K. tour.

The new date, which takes place Oct. 14, accompanies previously announced shows at the London O2 Arena (Oct.13), Birmingham LG Arena (Oct. 17) and Manchester MEN Arena (Oct. 18).

Former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach has been confirmed as support for the AEG Live-promoted tour, which marks the band's first U.K. indoor shows since 2006.

Guns N' Roses is also set to headline two shows at the dual-site U.K. Reading/Leeds festival, which takes place Aug. 27 to Aug. 30.

The band's only previous performance at the Festival Republic organized event took place in 2002, when the band played an exclusive show at the Leeds site and went on stage over an hour late and famously played well beyond the festival curfew.

Festival Republic managing director Melvin Benn has, however, warned that if the band were to pull a similar trick this year he would pull the plug on their performance.

"It's just not an option," Benn told U.K. music magazine the NME this week.

"The police and the local authorities in particular have reaffirmed their position to me that the curfew has to be adhered to," he went on to say, adding, "The truth is that I can't allow the performance to go on beyond that - it's just that simple."
