David Levin has been named senior VP and business manager of sales at Sony BMG Music Entertainment, overseeing the company digital sales and advertising supported channels. Levin is based in New York and reports to the company's executive VP of sales Jennifer Schaidler.
Levin, who previously was VP of digital sales and new sales initiatives for global digital business unit of Sony BMG, will serve as the company's chief liaison to key partners in these environments to maximize the reach of our artists and products and drive new revenue streams from emerging sectors of the digital marketplace. Prior to his last role, Levin, who holds an MBA from Rutgers University's Graduate School of Management and a BA in Sociology from Rutgers, was senior director of online marketing for Sony BMG U.S. Sales Enterprise.
Schaidler described Levin as "a ground breaker in digital media and entertainment with extensive experience in digital sales," adding he is a key member in the sales organization's leadership.
Before the Sony Music Entertainment merger with BMG Entertainment, Levin spent two years as director of marketing for Getmusic.com. From 1997 to 1999 he was manager of market research, BMG Distribution. He joined BMG Distribution in 1991 as a college marketing representative and subsequently served as field marketing representative and market development coordinator.
